Happy Junkanoo to You!

The parade begins!

Junkanoo is a yuletide procession where the dancers parade down the streets, dressed in elaborate costumes accompanied by percussion music. The rhythms of the Junkanoo became hypnotic growing in reaction to the crowd’s enthusiasm, and the crowd’s reaction to the uninhibited movements of the dancers.
We were eager to participate in this experience as a celebration of the New Year and to experience a Junkanoo competition up close and personal. Based on a starting time of 11:20 pm, the crowd was quite warmed up for the festivities to begin.  It was great fun to be involved in this spirited celebration of Bahaminan Culture..an evening to remember.

Lots of colorful lights

and beautiful ladies!
